Bill's Spring Shootout!

The first PACT tournament of 2019 is in the books. Thanks to Willie McKeen, Neil Morris, Lanny Noel, and all the fine folks at #FalconsDekHockey for hosting another successful weekend! Everything was well managed, from the scheduling, to the referees, to the updates on social media, to the activities outside the pro shop, but I think the feature everyone appreciated the most was the live feed on YouTube! Thanks again all, and keep doing what you’re doing! #growthegame
As for our Team Pittsburgh teams, we had a great showing this weekend. The Gladiators, Warriors, Emperors, Dragons, and Spartans all battled hard in every game. Even though they didn’t win the ultimate prize, they never gave up! Remember, we learn as we grow. The focus right now is to develop individually, but more importantly, as a team.
We did walk away with a few huge wins... *The Knights had three shutouts on their way to the Beaver A Championship. They were crowned Champs after a huge 5-4 overtime win against a strong Cranberry team. Knights vs Screaming Eagles is going to be an exciting matchup all season long.
*The Reapers (I told you to keep your eye on them 😉) rolled through Round Robin. The highlight was their impressive 5-2 win over Penn Hills A, earning them the #2 seed in the A bracket. Then, after being down 1-0 in the semifinals against Brookline A, they stormed back for a 3-1 victory, punching their ticket to the A championship. Not too shabby for a ‘B’ team!
*The Outlaws also rolled through Round Robin (8-0 & 8-0), then shutout and eliminated Penn Hills A in the semifinals. They also had a shutout in the final against the Reapers, but needed extra time to finally cash one in. It was a fantastic, back and forth game that had everyone on the edge of their seats!
Great job this weekend coaches, players, and parents! Next up is the MidWest Regional Qualifier at Penn Hills and our very own NEDC tournament. Can’t wait to see what our teams do next!
