The Team Pittsburgh Dek Hockey travel program consists of 4 age divisions from ages 7 through 19 who play in various tournaments in western Pennsylvania against other dek hockey organizations. In addition, Team Pittsburgh will travel out of the area to compete in 3-4 tournaments. These tournament destinations include New Jersey, Philadelphia, Boston, and Niagara Falls, Canada.
We also team up with other organizations around the Pittsburgh area and play 3-4 Chipmunk tournaments. This is to introduce the youngest players in our ball hockey family to competitive hockey and to help grow our game.
The travel teams are formed by having competitive tryouts held in late October each year for the following calendar year of competition. Your child's play in tournaments, tryouts, and In-House play all factor into the evaluation of forming a tournament team. Each team will play in approximately 8-10 tournaments per year starting in late February through early October. Players are expected to attend weekly practices on Sunday and as rink time permits.
